SENIOR Policy and Research Manager

Location: Atlanta, Ga

Reports To: Policy and Research Director

Classification: Full-Time

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary Range: $60,000-$80,000

Grounded in community data and research, the Center for Civic Innovation’s mission is to strengthen civic engagement, scale community-designed interventions, and advocate for more effective local public policy that improves the social and economic wellbeing of Atlanta’s people and places.

The Role: SENIOR Policy and REsearch Manager

Role and Responsibilities would include:

  • Oversee the project planning, strategy implementation, and day-to-day activities of our research and public policy activities

  • Develop fact sheets, explainers, and guides that can be shared with the public about elected positions, political processes, and governmental institutions

  • Support CCI’s relationships and projects with local and national movement attorneys to gain legal opinions and guidance on legislative issues

  • Collaborate on CCI’s formal relationship management with neighborhood-level leaders, community partners, and elected officials

  • Lead on CCI’s research and development of policy recommendations: guiding outlines, timelines, processes, and recommendation development

  • Work with CCI’s Programs Team to ensure that all programs are using up-to-date information and relevant data

  • Support on attending relevant task force meetings and hearings with partners

  • Lead on cross-team coordination for needs of and from the Policy Team

    Skills & Experience:

  • Understanding of local governmental entities (City of Atlanta, Atlanta Public Schools, Fulton and DeKalb Counties, Invest Atlanta, MARTA, Atlanta Housing, etc.) and familiarity with Georgia law that impacts Atlanta

  • Experience with and understanding of municipal government processes, including but not limited to: legislative processes, intergovernmental agreements, and City code

  • Commitment to using data – not political motive – to drive research

  • Understanding of municipal budget processes – tracking decision-making and spending throughout the year

  • Project management experience, familiarity with project management software and processes

  • Accuracy and attention to detail

  • Thoroughness and efficiency

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Commitment to the practice and continued learning around equity
