In 2020, after calling attention to the disparity in COVID-19 relief funding for Black women leaders who have been doing the work and calling attention to crisis for years, an advisory group of Black female leaders assembled to address some of these challenges. These women understand firsthand how long-standing power dynamics within philanthropic institutions restrict the ability to raise capital. Their charge was to address these deep-rooted biases and broken processes by developing a playbook for how philanthropy should, and could operate in the future.
