RECOMMENDATIONS
In 2020, after calling attention to the disparity in COVID-19 relief funding for Black women leaders who have been doing the work and calling attention to crisis for years, an advisory group of Black female leaders assembled to address some of these challenges. These women understand firsthand how long-standing power dynamics within philanthropic institutions restrict the ability to raise capital. Their charge was to address these deep-rooted biases and broken processes by developing a playbook for how philanthropy should, and could operate in the future.

WHY ARE WE DEVELOPING A SET OF RECOMENDATIONS?
Atlanta is America’s most unequal city-
—and a global pandemic and civil uprising only brightens the light on the detrimental impact of inequality on families and business. Almost every issue in Atlanta, from health outcomes to financial security, disproportionately threatens Black communities.
This is not an accident—
it is a reflection of many intentional systems and policies. It is vital, especially in times of crisis, for public dollars to be distributed to trusted, effective solutions.
